RinuaGene and Medecines Patent Pool establish a collaboration on investigational therapeutic mRNA candidate for HPV-related disease.
Suzhou, China, October 11, 2026 - RinuaGene Biotechnology Co., Ltd. ("RinuaGene") announced today that on October 4, 2026, the company formally signed a Framework for Collaboration with the Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) to explore pathways for further development and potential licensing of RG002, RinuaGene’s investigational therapeutic mRNA candidate for HPV-associated disease. The framework supports the mRNA Technology Transfer Programme, which was established in 2021 and is co-led by the World Health Organization (WHO) and MPP. Under this framework, RinuaGene and MPP will assess pathways for potential technology transfer and local manufacturing of RG002 and other potential RinuaGene mRNA product candidates in selected low- and middle-income countries.
This collaboration provides an opportunity to contribute RinuaGene’s mRNA technology capabilities to global efforts addressing cervical cancer.
Addressing an Unmet Global Public Health Need
Despite incredible progress in vaccinating girls with the prophylactic HPV vaccine, many low- and middle-income countries have not been able to achieve the desired coverage rate, leaving millions of women infected and at risk, and a continued increase in number of pre-cancerous lesions remains. Therefore rendering it difficult to meet WHO's Global Strategy to Accelerate the Elimination of Cervical Cancer by 20301: In response to this challenge, in July 2024, WHO published the WHO Preferred Product Characteristics for Therapeutic HPV Vaccines, identifying with "clearing high-risk HPV infection and reversing cervical pre-cancer" as the core function of therapeutic vaccines, complementary to existing prophylactic vaccines and screening systems, with a particular focus on the unmet needs of low- and middle-income countries.
RinuaGene's RG002 is an mRNA therapeutic cancer vaccine candidate developed to precisely address this global gap. The product is developed on the company's proprietary mRNA technology platform and has demonstrated encouraging clinical data and holds the potential to become the world's first therapeutic approach to effectively intercept cervical cancer, through a pharmaceutical product, while reducing the risk of multiple cancers associated with HPV infection. The collaboration will initially focus on assessing pathways for the development, technology transfer and potential manufacture of RG002 in selected LMICs.
From Product to Platform: Advancing the Globalization of mRNA Technology
Under the framework, the two parties will take RG002 as the initial focus, assessing pathways for potential technology transfer and local manufacturing in low- and middle-income countries, to enhance sustainable and affordable access in regions with clearly defined public health needs. At the same time, the two parties will assess the possibilities for co-development, technology transfer and local or regional manufacturing of other RinuaGene mRNA product candidates (such as mRNA vaccines against influenza and respiratory syncytial virus). The two parties will establish a joint working group to coordinate the collaboration. Each party will also retain their pre-existing intellectual property.
About the mRNA Technology Transfer Programme
The mRNA Technology Transfer Programme is a global public health initiative jointly launched by the WHO and MPP in 2021, with the support of several governments and institutions. The Programme aims to build sustainable mRNA manufacturing capacity across 15 low- and middle-income countries, enabling these countries and their region to develop and produce prophylactic vaccines and therapeutic products they need. In doing so, it seeks to improve local health outcomes and health security, to reduce dependence on external supply during public health emergencies and to address the equity gap in global manufacturing capacity.

RinuaGene Biotechnology Co., Ltd. is an innovative biotechnology company focused on the research, development and industrialization of RNA medicines through its proprietary technology platform. The company's pipeline focuses on therapeutic cancer vaccines, protein replacement therapies, and also covers areas such as prophylactic viral vaccines. RinuaGene possesses end-to-end capabilities spanning sequence design, delivery systems and large-scale manufacturing.
RinuaGene's participation brings Chinese mRNA innovation into the mRNA Technology Transfer Programme and fills a critical gap by adding therapeutic cancer vaccines to the global strategy towards eliminating cervical cancer.
About MPP
The Medicines Patent Pool is a non-profit foundation registered in Switzerland and headquartered in Geneva. It is a United Nations-supported international public health organization dedicated to improving access to essential medicines and health technologies in low- and middle-income countries. MPP works with partners to license medicines and health technologies under a public-health-oriented model, supporting product development, technology transfer and sustainable manufacturing capacity building. As a co-lead of the mRNA Technology Transfer Programme, MPP undertakes work related to intellectual property, licensing, technology transfer and engagement with the Programme's Manufacturing Partners.
